Your hand bouquet appears in almost every photo of your wedding day. It sits in your hands during the akad nikah, walks with you down the aisle and stays beside you on the pelamin. Yet many brides choose it last, and choose it quickly.
The shape of the bouquet matters as much as the flowers in it. Here is a simple guide to the two most loved shapes, the round bouquet and the cascade bouquet, and how to choose the one that suits you.
1. The round bouquet
A round bouquet is a neat, dome-shaped arrangement held close to the body. It is the classic choice: balanced, tidy and easy to carry for hours.
- Best for: akad nikah, intimate ceremonies, and brides who want a clean, timeless look.
- Works well with: baju kurung, kebaya, A-line gowns and petite frames, because it does not overwhelm the outfit.
- Practical plus: lighter and more compact, so it is comfortable through long photo sessions.
2. The cascade bouquet
A cascade bouquet, also called a teardrop or waterfall bouquet, starts full at the top and flows downward in a graceful trail. It is dramatic, romantic and made to be noticed.

- Best for: bersanding, grand receptions and brides who want a statement piece.
- Works well with: long gowns, trains and taller frames, where the trailing line can be seen in full.
- Things to know: a cascade is longer and heavier, so the handle and inner structure must be built properly for it to stay balanced in your hand.
3. Round or cascade: how to decide
Ask yourself three questions:
- What am I wearing? A fuller outfit with a long silhouette suits a cascade. A simpler or shorter outfit suits a round bouquet.
- Which moment is it for? Many of our brides choose a round bouquet for the akad nikah and a cascade for the reception.
- How do I want to look in photos? Round feels refined and classic. Cascade feels grand and editorial.
If you are still unsure, bring a photo of your outfit to our showroom and we will help you see both shapes against it.
4. Our specialty: a hand bouquet that lasts a lifetime
Fresh flowers are beautiful, but they begin to wilt within hours of your ceremony. At Shaja Ratul, we create hand bouquets that do not fade with the day. Every piece is handmade in our workshop in Seri Kembangan, designed to be kept, displayed at home and one day passed on.
We create our bouquets in four signature styles:
Crystal bouquet
Hand-set crystals that catch the light from every angle. Elegant in photos and stunning under reception lighting.
Gim flower bouquet
Petals shaped by hand from fine gim, giving a soft, textured shimmer. Gim flowers pair beautifully with crystal for a rich, layered finish.
Songket flower bouquet
Our heritage signature. Real songket fabric is folded and sculpted into roses and blooms, so your bouquet carries a piece of Malay craft tradition into your wedding day.

Brooch bouquet
Built from dozens of brooches, crystals and pearls arranged into a jewel-like bouquet. Some brides include a brooch that belonged to their mother or grandmother, turning the bouquet into a true family heirloom.
Every style can be made in a round or cascade shape, and in colours matched to your wedding theme.
5. Caring for your bouquet
A keepsake bouquet needs a little care to stay beautiful for years:
- Keep it in its box or a display case, away from dust and humidity.
- Avoid direct sunlight, which can fade fabric over time.
- Dust gently with a soft, dry brush. Never use water or cleaning sprays on crystals or songket.
